HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Women's Swimming and Diving team battled in the pool in a dual meet with Hamilton College and Tufts on Saturday. The Engineers fought, but fell to both squads as Hamilton topped RPI 150-92 while Tufts beat the Engineers 156-80 on the scoreboard in their final tune up before the Liberty League Championships.
Leading the pack for RPI was a pair of second place finishes by
Shannon Brown and
Audrey Lewis. Brown competed in the Women's 200 yard freestyle, scoring second with a time of 1:57.87. Lewis made her second place finish in the Women's 200 yard breatstroke with a time of 2:32.77.
The other notables all came in the form of third place finishes for the Engineers.
Colleen Whittaker took home third in the Women's 200 yard fly with a time of 2:14.48, while
Alyssa Cahill finished third in the Women's 200 yard back stroke with a time of 2:13.22. Lastly,
Ella Simpson came up with a third place finish in the diving portion of the competition, scoring 251.00 for third place in the Women's 3 meter dive.
RPI returns to the pool on Wednesday, February 15 when they take on Day 1 of the Liberty League Championships in Ithaca.
