ROCHESTER, N.Y. –
Shannon Brown was the standout swimmer in the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's swimming and diving team's opening meet of the season, as the Engineers outlasted the RIT Tigers by a final score of 151.5-148.5.
Brown won three individual races, taking home victories in the 200 meter, 50 meter, and 100 meter freestyle. Brown, along with
Alyssa Cahill,
Chloe Jepson, and
Colleen Whittaker took a victory in the Women's 200 yard medley relay team.
Emma Wojnarowski took victories in the 1000 and 500 free, while Sierra Pargett took second in the 200, 50, and 100 free events. Pargett was also part of the second place 200 free relay team.
Hannah Goddard brought home a first place finish in the 200 and 100 butterfly, earning the first collegiate wins in her career.
In the diving portion,
Ella Simpson earned second place in both 1 meter and 3 meter diving.
RPI returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. when they host Ithaca at Robison Pool for their first home event of the season.
