Men’s Hockey Stopped at No. 3 Boston College

CHESNUT HILL, Mass. – Sophomore forward Sutter Muzzatti collected his first goal of the season in the second period Friday night, as the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's hockey team fell to the No. 3 Boston College Eagles by a final score of 6-1.

Cutter Gauthier scored the opening two goals for the Eagles in the first period, scoring the first 28 seconds into the game on a shot from the blue line, while the second came at the 7:21 mark on a power play with a shot from the right side circle. The score stood 2-0 heading into the second period.

Muzzatti's goal to open the second period cut the Boston College lead in half, as a bouncing puck heading toward the net was sent in on the backhand by the second-year Engineer. Getting assists on the play were both Nick Strom and Tyler Hotson – with Hotson earning his first collegiate point on the play.

From there, Boston College scored four unanswered through the end of the game, with a pair in each period through the final horn. Gabe Perreault and Oskar Jellvik each scored after Muzzatti in the second period, before Connor Joyce and Will Smith collected goals in the third.

Goaltender Jack Watson made 26 saves in net for the Engineers, while Eagles goaltender Jacob Fowler made 21 saves – including a game-high 10 in the third period.

RPI returns to action tomorrow, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. when they take on No. 12 Providence on the road in Rhode Island.
