TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's swimming and diving team continued their strong start to the season, as they defeated the Ithaca Bombers by a final score of 194-106 at Robison Pool Saturday afternoon.
Both
Shannon Brown and
Alyssa Cahill had standout days, as they teamed up with
Colleen Whittaker and
Chloe Jepson to win the 200 yard medley relay. Individually, Cahill took wins in the 100 and 200 backstroke, while Brown was a winner in the 100 and 200 freestyle.
Emma Wojnarowski also came through with a with a pair of wins in the 500 and 1,000 freestyle. In the 1,000, she dominated the field with a time of 11:03.62 – more than 14 seconds better than the second place finisher.
Also notable for the Engineers was freshman
Vera Korff, as she took her first collegiate win in the 50 freestyle, and was a part of the 400 freestyle relay team with Brown,
Sierra Pargett, and Maddy Erickson.
The Engineers return to action on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. when they host Saint Rose at Robison Pool.
