Box Score NEW LONDON, CT - After grabbing an 18-15 lead after the first quarter, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's basketball team saw the Coast Guard Academy put up a 27-point second quarter as they defeated the Engineers by a final score of 76-65 Tuesday night. With the loss, RPI moves to 2-2 on the season while Coast Goard improves to 3-0.

The Engineers started strong, jumping out to an early 16-6 lead in the first quarter after a three-pointer from Ashlyn O'Neil gave RPi the 10-point advantage with 4:43 remaining in the quarter. RPI went scoreless until only 10 seconds reamined in the quarter, as Marley Mueller converted from the paint to break a 16-16 tie and send the Engineers to the second with an 18-16 lead.

The second quarter led to be a high-scoring affair for both sides, as Coast Guard could not miss. At the half, Coast Guard led 43-37. They maintained their lead throughout the second half as well, gaining a lead as big as 15 points with 2:08 remaining in the game. 

NIcole DaPra led all players for the Engineers with 14 points and seven rebounds, as the scoring was spread out among 10 different Engineers in the lineup. O'Neil and Rebecca Gregg each finished with nine points. For Coast Guard, they had four double-digit scorers led by Kira Wood who went for 19 points on 7-for-15 shooting from the field. Kelly Hagerty secured 16 points and nien rebounds, falling one board shy of a double-double.

The Engineers return to action this Saturday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. when they host SUNY Cobleskill for their home opener at ECAV Arena.
