Morgan Lee won the 3000 meters with
Nia Goddard earning runner-up and
Emma McGuinn was second in the 60 Hurdles to help the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's track & field team finish third in the Liberty League Championship hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
RPI had 87 points, which trailed the University of Rochester's 186 and Ithaca College's 185.5. Vassar College was fourth with 71 points.
Lee, a senior, held the lead throughout the 3k and finished with a time of 9:47.24. She was nine seconds ahead of Goddard, who clocked a 9:56.12 with Vassar's Augusta Stockman in third by 17 seconds (10:13.90). RPI's
Olivia Pisacano was fifth with a time of 10:18.43 to give the Engineers 22 points in the event.
McGuinn, a freshman, earned eight points with her second place finish in the hurdles. Her time of 8.90 trailed only Logan Bruce, a senior from Ithaca who ran an 8.72.Â
Also on the track, senior
Jillian Lees raced to a third place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.31 and the 4x400 squad of
Katie Manning,
Caitlin Smith,
Faydia Thompson, and
Christine Mallette was fourth (4:13.48). Individually, Mallette ran sixth in the 200 meters (26.46).
Holly Lauzon also scored for the Engineers with an eighth place finish in the weight throw (12.81).
