LATHAM, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team took a triumph on Sunday afternoon, as the Engineers swept doubles play en route to a 6-3 victory over No. 33 nationally-ranked Wellesley University at Tri-City Fitness. RPI moves to 4-1 overall on the season, while Wellesley falls to 0-3.
The Engineers scored all three doubles victories, with
Nikki Ridenour and
Lorna Flores Gonzalez taking an 8-3 victory at the No. 1 doubles spot. Ridenour also swept through Annissa Mu at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Rani Jones also won in straight sets at No. 4 singles in a 6-0, 6-3 win over Emilee Pak.
Lorna Flores Gonzalez took three sets to take her victory at No. 3 singles, winning 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.
RPI returns to action on Monday, March 6 when they open their spring break trip in Orlando, Florida against Haverford College.
