ORLANDO, Fla. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team finished its four-match Spring Break trip with a 6-1 victory over Division II St. Cloud State University and the Engineers head north with a 3-1 record in the Sunshine State. Overall, RPI is now 7-2, while the Huskies drop to 4-4.
After sweeping the doubles and earning a point (Division II scoring rules applied), Rensselaer got a win from
Lorna Flores Gonzalez at No. 3 singles to go ahead 2-0.
Alex Mednikova earned a 6-0, 6-1 win - the same score Flores Gonzalez posted - at No. 2 for a 3-0 lead and
Nikki Ridenour clinched the victory with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1.
Lorna Flores Gonzalez, Mednikova, Ridenour, and
Krisia Flores Gonzalez each had two wins on the day for RPI, which returns to action on April 1 at St. Lawrence University.
