TROY, N.Y. - After sweeping the doubles with only four games lost, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team got wins from
Brooke Bauer at No. 5 singles and
Krisia Flores Gonzalez at No. 6 to clinch the match against Union College. No. 35 RPI went on to win 7-2 and is now 11-3 overall and 4-1 in the Liberty League. The Engineers have won six of their last seven. The Dutchwomen fall to 6-5 and 3-2.
Bauer, who partnered with
Masha Karach on the No. 3 doubles team that won 8-2, put Rensselaer ahead 4-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 win. Flores Gonzalez clinched it with her 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 6.Â
RPI held a 6-0 lead before Union got on the board but
Alex Mednikova answered with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 2.
