Christine Mallette won two events and five others were also victorious for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's track & field team, which competed against Bates College and Tufts University in a tri-meet at Harkness Track & Field. Tufts won the meet with 86 points, followed by RPI (66) and Bates (47).
Mallette, a sophomore, was first in the 100 dash with a time of 12.97 and the 200 with a 25.91, winning by .43 and .69, respectively. Also winning on the track was senior
Nia Goddard, who captured the 5000 meters in a time of 17:44.88. Teammate
Leah Goodloe was the runner-up in 18:29.56. Other second place finishers for Rensselaer on the track were
Eileen Beres in the 3000 Steeplechase (11:53.71) and
Jillian Lees in the 800 (2:20.20). They were both within a second of winning.
Emma McGuinn also took first place, winning the 100 Hurdles in a time of 14.87, which was .75 in front of the runner-up.
RPI boasted three winners in the throws events with
Holly Lauzon winning the shot put (11.01),
Katie Lynch taking the discus (35.92), and
Grace Garman winning the javelin (29.02).
