Nia Goddard, and
Olivia Pisacano were the top three in the 5000 meters on the second day of the Liberty League Championship and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's track & field team finished third in the eight-school competition with 96 points. The University of Rochester, which hosted the two-day meet, won with 223.5 points, followed by Ithaca College with 220.
RPI's trio led the 5K throughout with Lee pulling ahead and legging out a 17:30.54 to win by 10 seconds over Goddard, who crossed the finish line in 17:40.22. Pisacano was third in 17:50.81, 14 seconds ahead of the fourth place finisher.
Joining Goddard as a runner-up was
Emma McGuinn, who ran second in the 100 Hurdles in a school record time of 14.17. She was less than a second behind Ithaca's Logan Bruce, who finished in 13.93.Â
Also establishing a new Institute mark was
Christine Mallette in the 200, which she ran in 25.41 to finish in fifth place behind four Rochester sprinters.
Rensselaer's other top finishers were
Katie Lynch with a third place finish in the discus (36.18) and
Jillian Lees placing fourth in the 800 (2:21.83).
