Box Score TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's soccer team collected their second win in a row on Saturday evening, scoring a pair of goals and holding Oswego State off the scoreboard in a 2-0 victory over the Lakers. With the win, RPI moves to 2-1-2 overall on the season, while Oswego falls to 1-1-3.
RPI broke through in the 11
th minute with their first score of the game courtesy of
Reggie Durden.
Kyle Osborne found space up the left side of the field, and found Durden charging up the right. Durden finished with his right foot, putting the Engineers up 1-0.
Both sides played physical throughout the game, with the score staying 1-0 until the 59
th minute. RPI extended the lead to 2-0 thanks to an unassisted goal from
Brady Van Epps, who found the left side of the net from just inside the 18-yard box to give the Engineers some cushion.
Despite some late yellow cards on both sides, RPI finished off the game 2-0 as goaltender
Colin Such finished with six total saves on the night. Andre Bourjollu made five saves in for the Lakers.
Oswego outshot the Engineers 14-13 on the match, but won the shots on goal battle against the Lakers 7-6.
RPI returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. when they head south to Ewing, N.J. to take on The College of New Jersey.
