TROY, N.Y. - The six student-athletes in the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis lineup all went 2-0 as the Engineers defeated New Paltz 9-0 in a non-league match at Sharp Courts. RPI improves to 3-0 this fall, while the Hawks drop to 3-1.
The No. 3 doubles pair of
Prisha Rapur and
Brooke Bauer had the largest margin of victory with an 8-2 win. They then went on to win at No. 2 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Rapur, the reigning Liberty League Rookie of the Week, won 6-3, 6-1 over graduate student Onalee Batcheller in the second slot, while Bauer, a junior, beat freshman Olivia Kunz 6-3, 6-0 in the fifth.
Krisia Flores Gonzalez and
Lina Krumpel, who teamed up for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles, both had 6-0, 6-1 victories in singles, playing No. 4 and No. 6, respectively.
