TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's swimming team ended their first weekend in 2024 in a big way, as they defeated Union College in a dual meet by a final score of 139-63 at Robison Pool Sunday afternoon.
 
Highlighting the day was Ellen Lorentz in the 100 meter backstroke, as she claimed the top spot for her first collegiate win. Also putting up strong efforts were Sierra Pargett and Colleen Whittaker, as both took first place finishes in events as well.
 
Pargett claimed victory in the 1,000 meter freestyle while finishing second in the 100 meter backstroke, while Whittaker took first in the 100 butterfly and the 100 meter breaststroke.
 
RPI returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. when they go head-to-head with Skidmore College in Saratoga.
