TROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's basketball team struggled offensively on Saturday afternoon, as they were hampered by turnovers as they were defeated by Skidmore by a final score of 47-37 at ECAV Arena.Â
RPI had a slow start out of the gate, as Skidmore put together a 16-5 lead after the first 10 minutes of play. However, it was the Engineers turning the tables in the second quarter as they held Skidmore to just four points while putting up 13 to make things 20-18 in favor of Skidmore at the midway point.
However, the turnovers built up for the Engineers as Skidmore took advantage of that in the fourth quarter where they pulled away for the win. RPI turned the ball over 21 times, while the Throughbreds had just five on the game. Skidmore converted 15 points off turnovers.
Siena Smith collected a double-double for the Engineers with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while
Ahnalese Pearson added 11 points. For Skidmore, Julia Blanck scored 14 points with 14 rebounds for a double-double while Emmy Plage added 11 points.
