Late Goals by Cioffi and Kaiser Help RPI Earn 2-1 Victory at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's ice hockey team fought back for a 2-1 victory at Syracuse this evening.

The Engineers trailed 1-0 throughout most of the night before Aylah Cioffi and Ellie Kaiser each registered power plays goals in the third period to help RPI come from behind.

Cioffi scored in the opening moments of the final frame with help from Andrea Trnkova and Nina Christof before Kaiser pocketed the unassisted game-winner with seven minutes left in the game.

RPI goaltender Maelee Ambrass made 14 saves to earn the win in her collegiate debut.

The Engineers nearly doubled Syracuse in shot attempts on the evening (29 to 15). RPI forced Orange netminder Allie Kelley to make 27 saves.

These two sides will head east to finish the weekend series tomorrow at 4:00 pm in Houston Field House.
