RPI Scores 28 Unanswered Points in 34-10 Triumph Over St. Lawrence

TROY, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) football performed well on both sides of the ball to earn a commanding 34-10 victory against St. Lawrence this afternoon at ECAV Stadium.

After a tight first half saw the Engineers trailing 10-6 in the second quarter, RPI would post the final 28 points of the contest to seal the Liberty League win.

RPI scored four touchdowns on the ground, including a game-high two scores from Kayden White, who topped all players with 66 rushing yards. Jake Kazanowsky and Cristian Buckley tallied rushing touchdowns as well.

The turning point of the game came with when Engineers blocked a St. Lawrence punt midway through the third quarter. With short field and momentum, RPI would cash in on the turnover to increase its advantage from three to 10.

RPI found the end zone twice in the fourth quarter to cushion the margin. White broke free for a 44-yard score early in the frame before Mark Lapioli turned an interception at the RPI goal line into a 99-yard touchdown with the help of a lateral to Nate Sicard.

Cortez Garrett and P.J. Poknis also forced interceptions of Saint Lawrence quarterback Daniel Lawther. Cassius Johnson led the Engineers with eight tackles, while Anthony D'Agostino and Jon Borkowski had seven takedowns apiece.

Looking ahead, the Engineers will travel to Ithaca to face the Bombers next Saturday at 1:00 pm.
