Men’s Hockey Returns to ECAC Play Against Clarkson

TROY, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's ice hockey team welcomed Clarkson to Houston Field House this evening, with the visiting Golden Knights coming away with a 3-1 ECAC victory.

Tristan Sarsland, Ayrton Martino, and Talon Sigurdson tallied goals in the win for Clarkson.

After an empty first period, Sarsland posted the opening score for Clarkson midway through the second frame.

Martini doubled the margin at 9:51 in the third before Sigurdson registered an empty net score with over a minute remaining.

Sutter Muzzatti recorded the lone goal for RPI with 22 seconds left, as he took advantage of an open path from the blue line to the net and put the moves on Clarkson goalie Ethan Langenegger.

Tyler Hotson and Will Gilson provided the assists on the late score. Hotson attempted a team-high six shots for RPI, while Jimmy Goffredo and Elliott McDermott each out three attempts on frame.

Noah Giesbrecht stopped 31-of-33 shots in net for the Engineers. Giesbrecht was busy all night, as Clarkson generated a 26-11 advantage in shots on goal than the across the second and third periods.

RPI will look to bounce back with a 7:00 pm meeting against St. Lawrence tomorrow in Houston Field House.
