TROY, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team scored a convincing 72-55 Liberty League victory against Hobart tonight in ECAV Arena.
Avery Eugster's 16 points led a quartet of Engineers in double figures. Chuck Clemons finished with 13 points, PJ Scalisi logged 11 points, and Andrew Deppe finished with 10 points to aid RPI offensively.
Nate Tawiah-Boateng tallied a game-high seven rebounds, while Scalisi and Dylan Matchett had five boards each.
The Engineers struggled from the field in the opening 20 minutes, but converted 11-of-13 free throws compared to Hobart's nine misses in 12 attempts from the stripe in the first half.
After taking a four-point lead into the break, RPI recorded 15 of the first 25 points after halftime to manufacture an advantage that never dipped into single digits the rest of the way.
RPI connect on 9-of-15 from three-point range tonight, including seven makes on 10 tries from deep in the second half.
Next up, the Engineers will look to continue their hot start to the season with a 7:00 pm non-conference tilt at Cobleskill on Saturday evening.
