ROCHESTER, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's defeated SUNY Canton 62-48 to begin play at the St. John Fisher Holiday Tournament this evening.

Andrew Deppe had 14 points and Dylan Matchett provided 11 points to help RPI win its ninth consecutive game to begin the season.

PJ Scalisi and Yechiel Stewart logged nine points apiece, and Chuck Clemons topped the team with 10 rebounds and four assists as well.

After the first 20 minutes ended with both teams deadlocked at 25-25, the Engineers scored the first 14 points of the second half to stake a double-digit lead that extended throughout the final stanza.

Deppe and Matchett combined to score 17 of the Engineers' 37 points in the second half, as the duo worked together to shoot 10-of-11 from the free throw after halftime.

RPI will next face tournament host St. John Fisher tomorrow at 3:00pm.
