Engineers Dealt First Setback of the Season at St. John Fisher

ROCHESTER, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team suffered its first setback of the season with a 74-62 result at St. John Fisher today.

The Engineers led by as much as seven in the second half, however Fisher rallied to score 33 of the final 47 points to secure the win.

Dylan Matchett finished with a team-leading 21 points and six rebounds for the Engineers. Chuck Clemons also provided 16 points, three assists, and three steals in the defeat.

Matchett and Clemons combined to account for 13 of the Engineers' 18 made field goals on the day, including five of the six three-pointers.

Long-range shooting proved to be a key factor today, with the host Cardinals knocking down 12 three's. After shooting 5-for-17 from deep in the first 20 minutes, the Engineers were limited to just one made three-pointer on 13 attempts in the second half.

The Engineers will look to regroup with a Saturday tilt against Liberty League rival Hobart.
