Men’s Basketball Outlasts St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's team outlasted St. Lawrence to earn a 47-38 Liberty League road victory tonight up north.

Dylan Matchett had 14 points and eight rebounds and PJ Scalisi netted 13 points to help the Engineers remain unbeaten.

Pat White grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and Chuck Clemons had six points and eight boards. Andrew Deppe led all players with five assists as well.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first half, as the two sides totaled 28 points on a combined 11 field goals in the first 20 minutes.

After missing the mark from long-range early, Matchett and Clemons paired to knock down five three-pointers to allow the Engineers to distance themselves in the second half.

The RPI defense held the Saints to 14-of-50 shooting (28.0 percent), which represented the lowest opponent field goal percentage and least amount of field goals surrendered by the Engineers this season.

RPI will close the weekend with a 4:00 pm date at Clarkson tomorrow afternoon.
