ITHACA, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team split singles play with the Ithaca Blue Bombers on Sunday afternoon, but won all three doubles courts in a 6-3 victory on the road at the Reis Tennis Center at Cornell University. The win gives the Engineers their first Liberty League victory in their first league matchup of the season.
Each doubles court took strong victories, with the top two courts taking 8-2 wins, while the third court of
Prisha Rapur and
Brooke Bauer won by an 8-4 final. With an early 3-0 lead, the Engineers took that momentum into singles play.Â
Lorna Flores Gonzalez had the top victory for the Engineers at No. 2 singles, taking a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Rapur and Bauer continued their strong play, taking the other two singles victories at No. 3 and No. 6 courts, respectively.Â
RPI returns to action on Saturday, March 30 at 2 p.m. when they take on Skidmore College in Liberty League action.
