TROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's lacrosse team continued their strong start to the season, once again hanging 19 goals on the scoreboard as they took down the MIT Engineers by a final score of 19-10 at ECAV Stadium on Saturday.
MIT briefly led to open the game, scoring less than a minute in before RPI scored eight of the next nine goals to take an 8-2 lead with 11:31 to play in the second quarter. MIT closed the first half with a pair of man-up goals as the score stood 8-4 at the midway point.
RPI scored five in a row to open up the second half, and led 16-7 by the end of the third quarter. Each side scored just three goals apiece in the fourth quarter, as RPI hung on for the win.
Luke Murphy led the way for RPI with six points - four goals and two assists - while
Tyler Ruffini and
Cooper Manzi each had four points apiece. Garrett Campagna led MIT with a five-point day, scoring a goal with four assists.
RPI returns to action on Saturday, March 16 when they take on Vassar at 1 p.m. at ECAV Stadium.
