ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team used a strong performance in singles play as they took down the Rochester Yellow Jackets by a final score of 6-3 on the road Friday night.
The Engineers got a solid start in doubles play, securing two of the three courts to take an early 2-1 lead. After
Prisha Rapur and
Brooke Bauer took an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles, a clutch 8-7 (2) victory from
Masha Karach and
Lina Krumpel at No. 2 doubles set the tone for the match.
In singles, RPI took four of the six courts - with the same four doubles winners coming out victorious on the singles courts. Rapur led the way at No. 2 singles with a 7-5, 6-4 win, while Krumpel went 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 4 spot. Karach won 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot, while Bauer battled her way from behind for a 2-6, 7-5, 10-6 win at No. 5.
The Engineers return to action on Saturday, April 13 at 3:30 p.m. when they continue their run in Rochester as they face RIT.
