TROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's lacrosse team scored nine first half goals thanks to a strong second quarter as they defeated the Vassar College Brewers at ECAV Stadium by a final score of 14-6 on Saturday afternoon.
Ella Graff and
Megan Shay led the Engineers with four goals apiece, accounting for over half of the RPI goals on the day.
Lauren DeLeo and
Emily Speck each added three points apiece as well. For Vassar, Tess Billings and Lola Wright each had a goal and assist apiece to lead the way for the Brewers.
After a closely contest 3-2 first quarter with RPI in the lead, the Engineers scored six of the seven goals of the second quarter to take a 9-3 lead into halftime. Shay scored all four of her goals in the first half, with Speck grabbing the book-end goal with five seconds remaining in the first half.
Quinn Wollard opened the second half with a goal to push RPI to double-digits at 10-3 before both sides traded blows all the way down the stretch through the final whistle.
The Engineers return to action this Wednesday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m when they take on the Union Garnet Chargers under the lights at ECAV Stadium.
