TROY, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) softball team was defeated 1-0 in the Liberty League Softball Championship today at Doris Robison Softball Field.

The lone run of the game was provided by Rochester's Hannah Keiper, who deposited a solo home run in the top of the first inning to account for the only scoring of the day.

Erin Askins reached base twice with a hit and a walk, while Evann McDowell, Liv Vizzini, Sydney Speanburg, and Addison Shaffer registered one hit apiece for RPI.

Brooke Sroczinski scattered three hits in the circle, with the lone blemish coming on the first-inning blast from Keiper.

RPI will now await Monday's NCAA Division III Softball Selection Show, with the Engineers hoping to see their name included in the bracket for the second consecutive spring.
