BANGOR, Maine- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) softball team took a 9-0 loss in five innings against Williams College in the opening round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Softball Championship.

Sadie Leonard allowed no hits while striking out 10 batter to earn the win in the circle for the Williams. The lone baserunner allowed by Leonard came on a walk to Callista Adorno in the bottom of the fifth.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, the Ephs scored five times in the third to establish a big lead early. Williams manufactured their big inning courtesy of four hits, two errors, and a walk.

Sydney Fleming finished 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs in the win. Fleming lead a group of four Ephs to register multiple hits. Williams totaled 13 hits on the afternoon.

The Engineers have a chance to rebound in tomorrow's 1:30 pm contest against weekend host Husson. The top-seeded Eagles were edged 3-1 in the day's opening game versus Framingham State.
