Former RPI Captain Will Reilly '20 Helps Florida Everblades Win ECHL Kelly Cup

ESTERO, Fl.- Former Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's hockey captain Will Reilly '20 and the Florida Everglades claimed the ECHL Kelly Cup this past weekend with a 4-1 series victory against the Kansas City Mavericks.

Reilly played a key role in the Everblade's 4-3 overtime victory in game five, as he provided the assist on Matt Weldman's series-winning score with 3:38 elapsed in the extra period.

"The best part about hockey is winning those big games, and to be able to win the Kelly Cup Finals on home ice is such a privilege," shared Reilly. "I remember at RPI we had a really good chance to win the finals in my senior year but had to end our season early due to Covid. Being able to win this four years later is an amazing feeling."

The defenseman scored three goals and distributed eight assists across 22 playoff games to help the Everblades become the first team in the 36-year history of the ECHL to win the Kelly Cup in three consecutive seasons. Reilly also led Florida's defensive unit in goals (10) and assists (28) in 55 regular season games in 2023-24.

Reilly made 105 career appearances in an RPI uniform, where he found the back of the net 21 times while recording 54 assists. After wearing the "A" in the 2018-19 season, Reilly was appointed captain prior to a 2019-20 campaign that saw the Toronto, Ontario native finish second on the Engineers in scoring.
