NEW PALTZ, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's soccer team opened its 2024 campaign with a 1-0 setback at the first day of the New Paltz Hawks Classic.

The Hawks netted the lone score of the afternoon on a strike by Alex Wyant in the 63rd minute. Wyant found an opening in the middle of the Engineer's box to tuck away a feed from Brian Boylan.

The Engineers held a 10-7 advantage in shots, however the New Paltz defense only allowed two RPI shot attempts in the final 20 minutes of action to secure the shutout.

RPI turns around to face Sarah Lawrence College tomorrow at 4:30 pm in the final day of the season-opening tournament at New Paltz.
