CORTLAND, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's soccer team fought back from a two-goal deficit before suffering a last-second defeat at Cortland tonight.
RPI trailed by two goals in the first 45 minutes, but netted two strikes after halftime to level the action late.
Meadow O'Connell score both goals for the Engineers, with the second coming in spectacular fashion to draw the two squads even with six minutes to play.
Cortland was able to earn the victory on a game-winning goal by Piper Klammer with 66 seconds remaining.
Megan Wampner turned away seven Red Dragon shots in her 45 minutes in net to keep things close for RPI.
The Engineers will look to bounce back in their home-opener on Sunday afternoon against Mount Saint Vincent. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm inside ECAV Stadium.
