TROY, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's soccer team scored three times in the second half to secure a 4-1 victory over Springfield College tonight in ECAV Stadium.
Izzy O'Clair scored two goals, while
Sarah Sedlacek and
Brooke Miller added one score each in the win.
Miller got RPI on the board with seven minutes left before halftime, as she deposited a right-footed strike from 35 yards away to give the Engineers a 1-0 lead.
Springfield leveled the score at 1-1 in the 57th minute, however RPI would receive the go-ahead strike from Sedlacek 10 minutes later to pull ahead again. Sedlacek outsprinted the Springfield backline to a loose ball upfield before tucking away a shot from the edge of the 18-yard box.
O'Clair followed Sedlacek with a highlight-reel goal in the 76th minute, as she found the upper-right corner of the Springfield net from 30 yards away to register her first goal of the night. O'Clair recorded her second score of the game on a rebound effort from her own shot attempt with 10 minutes remaining.
Next up, the Engineers will welcome New Paltz to ECAV Stadium for a 12:00 pm kickoff on Saturday.
