TROY, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's ice hockey team set an all-time single-game attendance record this afternoon, as 1,553 fans packed the Houston Field House to watch the Engineers defeat Holy Cross 2-0.
Andrea Trnkova scored both goals on the day for the Engineers, marking the second time in her career she has logged a multi-goal effort.
Trnkova's first goal came five and half minutes into the first period, as she finished off a scoring sequence that featured Ellie Kaiser and Meg Hildner.
The defender's second score came on power-play opportunity midway through the second. Trnkova accepted a feed from Georgia Bailey and maneuvered around a pair of Crusaders before wristing home a shot into the top corner. Aylah Cioffi was credited with an assist as well on the play.
Engineers goaltender Reese Keating registered the first shutout of her career behind a 19-save effort.
RPI will look ahead to next weekend's home-and-home series with Sacred Heart. The Engineers will first head to Fairfield, Conn. to meet the Pioneers at 2:00 pm on Friday before coming back to Houston Field House for a 7:00 pm contest on Saturday.
