TROY, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team scored 27 of the final 44 points to earn a 64-54 Liberty League victory versus RIT today in ECAV Arena.
The Engineers and the Tigers were locked in a tight battle down the stretch, however the Engineers were good on eight of their final 10 shots in the second half to improve to 5-1 in conference play.
Dylan Matchett, PJ Scalisi, and Avery Eugster all landed in double-figures for the Engineers. Matchett and Scalisi provided 15 points each, while Eugster added 11. Matchett also tallied team-bests of seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals and Eugster provided six boards and two assists.
The Engineers offense needed some time to kick into gear, but RPI shot 13-of-23 (57 percent) as a team after halftime to earn the win.
Looking ahead, the Engineers will put their 10-2 record on the line at Vassar on Friday night.
