TROY, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's hockey team returned to Houston Field House for the first time in three weeks for an ECAC meeting with Harvard tonight. The Crimson scored the first four goals of the night on the way to a 5-2 victory.
Harvard opened the scoring at 14:25 in the first before doubling their margin with a short-handed strike in the final minute of the period. The Crimson scored at similar points in the second period as well, as the visitors registered a tally with five minutes to go in the stanza before scoring again with 0.5 ticks left on the clock.
Jake Gagnon and
John Beaton accounted for the Engineer scoring in the third. Gagnon got the final touch in front of the net on the play that included touches by
Max Smolinski and
Rainers Rullers. Beaton capped a power-play late in the period using assists from
Will Gilson and
Felix Caron.
RPI is back in Houston Field House tomorrow night for a 7:00 pm tilt against Dartmouth.
