TROY, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's ice hockey team returned from holiday break to host #13 Princeton tonight, with the visitors pulling away for a 7-2 ECAC win inside Houston Field House.
After a seesaw opening 14 minutes that saw both teams get on the board, the Tigers expanded their slim 2-1 advantage with four goals in a six-minute span stretching between the first and second periods.
Six different Tigers scored in the victory, with Lucia DiGirolamo netted two scores to led Princeton.
Andrea Trnkova scored two times as well for the Engineers, as she used assists from
Meg Hildner and
Morgann Skoda to pocket a power-play strike in the first period before finding the back of the net again on a 4-on-3 advantage in the third with help from Skoda and
Natalie Tulchinsky.
Princeton's Issy Wunder topped all players with four points, as she provided one goal and three assists to help the Tigers earn their ninth win in the last 10 games.
The Engineers will have to chance to regroup tomorrow afternoon with a 3:00 pm home matchup against #8 Quinnipiac.
