PROVIDENCE, RI - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's ice hockey team finished its weekend ECAC sweep with a 4-3 win at Brown tonight.
Jake Gagnon, Jimmy Goffredo, Jakob Lee, and Jagger Tapper lit the lamps for Engineers, with Lee providing RPI with the game-winning goal early in the third period.
RPI held all the early momentum, as Gagnon and Goffredo recorded first-period tallies to stake a 2-0 advantage.
Brown would get on board with 70 seconds left in the first before tying the action at 10:58 in the second, setting up the go-ahead score from Lee with two minutes elapsed in the third.
Jagger Tapper helped the Engineers with an empty-net goal in the closing moments of the third period, which proved to be important insurance when the Bears manufactured a score with an extra attacker in the final seconds.
Tapper finished with three points on the night, as he also assisted on the Goffredo and Lee goals. Will Gilson and Elliott McDermott had one apiece as well, which came on Gagnon's early power-play conversion.
Next up, the Engineers will head north next weekend for league bouts with St. Lawrence and Clarkson.
