Engineers Visit Nationally-Ranked Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's soccer team was dispatched 4-0 decision by #25 Vassar in Liberty League action today at Gordon Field.

The Brewers opened the scoring in the 38th minute when Ava Holman finished off a centering pass from Rebecca Rodriguez. Less than two minutes later, Vassar doubled its lead as Sonya Franklin converted on another assist from Rodriguez. Caroline Sheehan would strike in the 45th minute to make it 3-0 for the nationally-ranked hosts.

Holman added her second of the game in the 70th minute, receiving a cross from Lily Brigman and finishing from the center of the box to cap the scoring.

RPI's best scoring chances came in the second half, including a shot on target by Clara Krumholz in the 73rd minute that was saved by Vassar goalkeeper Emily McMahon. Camila Dominguez also registered a shot on goal in the 76th minute that was turned away.

Goalkeeper Audrey Montero made seven saves for the Engineers, including key stops in both halves to hold off a Vassar attack that generated 11 shots on goal.

RPI stays on the road to face St. Lawrence on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 pm in Canton.
