RPI Sweeps Oneonta in Home Opener

TROY, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's swimming and diving team delivered a commanding performance at Robison Pool this afternoon, defeating SUNY Oneonta 182–71 in the team's home opener. The Engineers swept all 16 events and saw standout performances across the board, including multiple collegiate-first wins and an NCAA qualifying standard on the diving board.

Sierra Pargett began the day with a strong showing in the distance events, capturing the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:09.50. She later returned to the pool to lead off the 400-yard freestyle relay team that posted a first-place time of 3:44.62. Gwenyth Snyder contributed two individual wins of her own, touching first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:02.24 and adding another victory in the 400 individual medley in 4:51.45. Katherine Schloth earned her first collegiate win with a time of 1:01.73 in the 100 backstroke, while Allison Biunno notched her first career victory in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:15.24.

Vera Korff had a strong performance, winning the 50 freestyle in 25.31 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 1:00.51. She also joined Pargett, Elizabeth Rose, and Hannah Goddard on the victorious 400 freestyle relay squad. Goddard added two more wins individually, taking the 200 butterfly in 2:11.18 and the 500 freestyle in 5:29.70. In the sprint freestyle, Theresa Funderburk earned her first collegiate win in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.70.

Caroline Steeves picked up a win in the 200 backstroke (2:12.46), and Katie Pierce claimed the 200 breaststroke in 2:38.35. Pierce was also part of the 400 medley relay team that opened the meet with a win in 4:11.99, alongside Ellen Lorentz, Goddard, and Funderburk.

Ella Simpson took the top spot in both diving events, winning the 1-meter with a score of 264.95 and the 3-meter with 258.90 points, with her 1-meter mark meeting the NCAA qualifying standard.
