RPI Bested 1-0 at Union

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 result at Union College in Liberty League action today.

The Engineers' defensive unit held firm in the opening half, anchored by goalkeeper Audrey Montero, who made seven saves before the break to keep the game scoreless. Montero would go on to record a season-high 11 saves on the afternoon.

RPI's best scoring chance of the first half came in the 45th minute when senior forward Rachel Borra sent a shot on target from the center of the box, but Union goalkeeper Maya Koster came up with the save.

The Garnet Chargers finally broke through in the 59th minute. Grace Beazoglou found the back of the net with a shot that eluded Montero, giving Union a 1-0 advantage.

RPI will next welcome Skidmore to ECAV Stadium for a 7:00 pm conference meeting on Wednesday.
