ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's soccer team battled to a 1–1 draw on the road against Bard College this evening in a tightly contested Liberty League match at the Lorenzo Ferrari Soccer & Lacrosse Complex.
After a scoreless first half that featured strong goalkeeping and organized defensive play on both sides, Bard struck first in the 50th minute when Emmett Olson gave the Raptors a 1–0 lead. The Engineers responded just over ten minutes later, as
Landon Bradley created a scoring opportunity and connected with
Sam Shmukler, who finished in the 61st minute to level the match at one.
RPI controlled much of the second half, outshooting Bard 11–2 after the break and 15–9 overall. Shmukler paced the Engineers with two shots on goal in three total attempts, while Bradley recorded two shots on frame in addition to his assist.
Goalkeeper
Noah Churchill made four saves across the full 90 minutes, including two key stops in the opening half to keep the Engineers within striking distance. RPI generated six corner kicks compared to Bard's three and forced seven saves from Bard goalkeeper Jake Sudit.
After earning points in the last three league matchups, the Engineers will look to continue their point-scoring streak on Saturday at home against Ithaca. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 pm in ECAV Stadium as part of RPI's Homecoming & Reunion Weekend.
