Engineers Unable to Slow Down Vassar

TROY, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team was defeated 66-48 by Vassar in a battle of the two top teams in the Liberty League today in ECAV Arena.

The Brewers sprinted out of the gates in the first half to manufacture an advantage that peaked at 16 points in the opening 13 minutes. Vassar earned the early lead thanks to 11-of-19 shooting to start the game, including 3-of-5 from three-point range.

Andrew Deppe was the high-scorer for RPI with 14 points. PJ Scalisi landed in double-figures as well with 12 points.

Avery Eugster topped the Engineers with seven rebounds, six assists, and three blocks, while Dylan Matchett and Scalisi snatched six boards each.

Looking forward, RPI will set its sights on the final weekend of the regular season, which features Clarkson and St. Lawrence visiting ECAV Arena on Friday and Saturday.
