TROY, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's lacrosse team held on for an 11-10 win over Liberty League rival Rochester today in ECAV Stadium.
Lisa Boehmer, Kira Abdelsayed, and Ella Graff had two goals each, with the latter netting the game-winning score for RPI with 2:50 left.
Jenny Canfield stopped two Rochester shots with under a minute remaining to preserve the one-goal victory for the Engineers.
RPI fell behind 2-0 early but received one first-half goal apiece from Abdelsayed, Audrey Silverman, Graff, Ava Gilardone, Lauren DeLeo, plus two from Boehmer to take a 7-4 lead into the intermission.
Abdelsayed, Quinn Wollard, and Kaylee Schaefer-Hood each pocketed scores early in the third to extend the RPI lead to 10-4, but the Yellow Jackets would come roaring back with six straight goals, including the game-tying score with 6:44 to play in the fourth.
After each team had the ball with the score tied, Graff managed to slice down the middle of the zone for the unassisted go-ahead tally.
Boehmer and Graff both added an assist to the scoresheet to finish with three points each. Gilardone and Wollard each had one assist as well to record a two-point afternoon.
Looking ahead, RPI will next welcome nationally-ranked William Smith for a 2:00 pm contest tomorrow in ECAV.
