Baseball Finishes Weekend Sweep over Bard

TROY, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) baseball team won two games against Bard today to complete a three-game sweep in the first Liberty League series of the season.

Michael Lebenson went 4-for-5 and Jon Primerano bombed a grand slam to help RPI claim a 13-6 win in game one.

Ian Oehlschlaeger, Ayush Krishnappa, Kameron Levesque, Matt Chotiner, and Lebenson scored two runs apiece, while Oehlschlaeger, Krishnappa, and Robbie Reddington all logged a two-hit performance.

Levesque and Reddington had run-scoring singles before Aidan Hicks laced a two-run double in a three-run the bottom of the second for RPI.

The lead increased thanks to runs in the sixth and seventh before the Engineers scored eight times in the eighth. Primerano cleared the bases with a grand slam to left and Lebenson drove in two runs as part of the big rally.

The RPI offense would not skip a beat in the second game of the day, as the Engineers put runs on the board in seven of their eight trips to the plate in the 15-5 game two win.

Oehlschlaeger and Krishnappa had three hits and three runs each, with the latter recording RPI's second grand slam of the afternoon in the fourth inning of the finale. Krishnappa also had a two-run double to finish with a game-high six RBI.

Levesque and Jake Contois would each deposit a solo home run as part to cap two-RBI effort for both outfields.

Looking ahead, RPI returns to action with a single game against MCLA Wednesday afternoon in Steffen Ballpark.
