TROY, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) softball team extended its winning streak to 13 games with two victories against Union today on Doris Robison Field. The Engineers claimed a 9-1 win in game one before shutting out the Garnet Chargers 4-0 in the finale.

Lauren Cosselman registered two hits apiece in opening game win.Â
After Union scored in the first, Cosselman,
Evann McDowell, and
Addison Shaffer manufactured RBI in a four-run second inning for the Engineers.
Shaffer drove in another run in the fourth, as did
Olivia Termi. Shaffer finished with a team-leading three RBI. Decker homered in the bottom of the sixth to give RPI the run-rule victory.
The top-three hitters in the Engineer lineup all had multi-hit performances in game two.
Sydney Speanburg led off with two hits, while McDowell and
Callista Adorno logged two and three hits, respectively.
RPI scored twice in the fourth, followed by two more runs in its next trip to the plate.
Ryleigh Falvey laced a run-scoring double before she was plated on a McDowell single in the fourth.
Kylie Grabler and Maddie Brooks each scored in the fifth as well. Brooks finished with a game-high two runs scored.
The Engineers will next challenge Ithaca in a re-scheduled Liberty League doubleheader on Monday afternoon on Robison Field.
