Engineers Stymied by Ithaca

TROY, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) baseball team was limited in today's Liberty League doubleheader against Ithaca. The visiting Bombers held on for 2-1 win in the opener before closing the day with a 10-2 triumph.

Ian Oehlschlaeger topped the Engineer lineup with a 2-for-4 effort on the finale.

Ayush Krishnappa and Walker Abdallah each had an RBI in the finale. Krishnappa singled home Matt Chotiner in the bottom of the second, while Abdallah scored Kameron Levesque in the ninth.

The Engineers were held to just three hits by Ithaca in game one, as Krishnappa, Chotiner, and Michael Lebenson each found success at the plate. RPI's lone run was scored by Charlie Lapp in the fifth following an error in the infield.

After the Bombers broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the eighth, RPI put the potential tying run on third base in the ninth before the final out was caught by Ithaca on the warning track.

The Engineers will have a chance to bounce back with a pair of home games against Hobart tomorrow. First pitch is set for 12:00 pm.
