Engineers Travel to Williams for 8-5 Win

WILLIAMS, Mass.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) baseball team got off to a hot start in today's 8-5 non-conference win at Williams College.

Alex Coombes went 3-for-4 and Ian Oehlschlaeger and Jon Primerano logged two-hit efforts for RPI.

The Engineers scored the first six runs of the game, beginning with Kameron Levesque driving home Ayush Krishnappa with the bases loaded in the top of the second.

Oehlschlaeger and Coombes followed with run-scoring hits in the third. Oehlschlaeger plated Primerano and Coombes singled in Oehlschlaeger two batters later. Primerano scored runs in each of the next two innings on Krishnappa at-bats.

Williams put three runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth, however Coombes and Levesque would both notch their second RBI of the game in the next half inning to extend the RPI cushion. Coombes singled through the left side to score Walker Abdallah, while Levesque drew a walk with the bases full.

RPI will return to Liberty League play with a Friday afternoon tilt against Union. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm in Karl Steffen Ballpark.
