TROY, NY- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's swimming & diving team delivered a dominant performance at the annual Kumpf Invite today, as the Engineers topped the field featuring SUNY Cortland, Skidmore, and William Smith.
Gwenyth Snyder claimed first in the 1,000 freestyle in 11:17.78, with
Ellie Tandlmayer just a hair behind to finish second in 11:17.91. Tandlmayer later added a third-place finish in the 500 free (5:33.40), rounding out an impressive dual showing in the longer events.
Sierra Pargett won both the 100 freestyle in 54.29 seconds and the 200 freestyle in 1:57.01. She also anchored the first-place Mixed 200 Freestyle Relay, teaming with Jason Weller, Tyler Kim, and
Vera Korff to post a time of 1:32.11. Korff had a standout day of her own, winning the 50 freestyle (25.31 seconds), swimming on both winning mixed relays.
Ellen Lorentz secured victory in the 100 IM, touching in 1:03.85, and
Meera Kondal delivered a winning effort of 2:17.18 in the 200 butterfly.
Audrey Lewis continued RPI's strong showing in the breaststroke events with a first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.49). Meanwhile,
Hannah Goddard earned a solid third-place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:00.57).
Theresa Funderburk added second-place finishes in the 100 freestyle (55.16) and the 100 IM (1:03.86), and joined the second-place Mixed 200 Free Relay squad.
Ella Simpson earned second place in both the 1-meter (236.50 points) and 3-meter (252.15 points) events.
The Mixed 200 Medley Relay squad of Rittivuth Chea,
Elizabeth Rose, Peter Meehan, and
Vera Korff captured first with a time of 1:44.45, while the Mixed 200 Freestyle Relay team of Weller, Korff, Kim, and Pargett touched first in 1:32.11.
RPI will next host Union in a Liberty League dual meet on Friday afternoon.
