TROY, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's swimming & diving team captured a 178–49 victory over Union in dual meet action today at Robison Pool.
The Engineers swept all 11 individual events and both relays to complete a perfect day in front of the home crowd.
Ellie Tandlmayer earned her first collegiate individual win with a strong swim in the 400-yard individual medley, clocking in at 4:50.07, while teammate
Gwenyth Snyder followed closely in second at 4:53.50.
Sierra Pargett sprinted to a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle (25.08) and anchored the first-place 200 freestyle relay to close out the meet, and
Lillian Bar added to the 1-2 punch in the 50 free, touching second at 25.93.
The relay units were dominant throughout, with the quartet of
Ellen Lorentz,
Audrey Lewis,
Vera Korff, and
Elizabeth Rose teaming up for a winning time of 4:09.19 in the 400 medley relay. Later,
Jessica Campise,
Elaina Griffiths, Korff, and Pargett combined to claim victory in the 200 freestyle relay at 1:45.75.
Katie Pierce added a pair of individual wins, taking the 1000 freestyle in 11:31.61 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.67.
Kate Tevlin (11:52.56) and Rose (1:13.34) secured runner-up finishes in those same events.
Hannah Goddard and
Caroline Steeves took first and second in the 100 freestyle, finishing in 55.74 and 56.29, respectively, while
Theresa Funderburk and
Meera Kondal claimed the top two spots in the 200 freestyle. Kondal returned to place second in the 200 butterfly, just behind Rose, who captured the win in 59.82 seconds.
Korff was a dual-event winner as well, claiming the 100 backstroke in 1:02.31 after contributing to both winning relays. Funderburk added a second-place swim in the backstroke as part of her double-podium day.
Audrey Lewis captured the 500 freestyle in 5:36.54, narrowly edging teammate Katie Schloth (5:40.39), while
Ella Simpson swept both diving boards with a 244.25 on the 1-meter and a 254.75 on the 3-meter.
Jessica Campise placed second on both boards, scoring 232.75 and 222.25, respectively.
The Engineers continue their busy weekend tomorrow afternoon at Skidmore.
