Engineers Limited at Home Versus Brown

TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's hockey team was unable to break through offensively in a 4–0 setback to Brown University this afternoon in Houston Field House.

The Engineers came out with strong energy in the opening period, winning early faceoffs and generating quality chances from Kendal Davidson and Georgia Bailey within the first two minutes. Bailey and Alexis Brunet helped RPI establish possession early at the dot, as the Engineers won six of the first eight draws.

Despite the early push, Brown capitalized on an opportunity at 5:31 and added a power-play goal later in the period to take a 2–0 lead into the first intermission.

RPI settled defensively in the second period and limited Brown to scoreless hockey through the middle 20 minutes. Reese Keating was sharp in net, stopping all 12 shots she faced in the period and turning aside multiple point-blank attempts during extended penalty kills.

The Engineers killed four Brown power plays in the period and blocked several attempts at the net front, highlighted by stops from Davidson, Kyley Toye, Aylah Cioffi, and Brianna Livingstone.

Offensively, RPI continued to create chances, particularly through Mia Montanari, who led all Engineers with six shots on goal. Bailey added two shots and finished with a game-high 15 faceoff wins, while Brunet went 10-for-13 at the dot as RPI finished with a 35–28 edge in faceoffs overall.

The Engineers pressed again early in the third period, with Toye ringing a shot off the post just 41 seconds into the frame and Montanari following with back-to-back chances on the next shift.

RPI continued to attack on the forecheck and earned a late power play, but Brown countered with a shorthanded goal at 14:43 before adding an empty-net tally in the final minute to close out the scoring.

Keating finished with 36 saves, including 13 in the third period, while RPI blocked 13 shots as a team.

RPI next faces Cornell at 5:00 pm on Friday in Ithaca.
